Kim Victoria Cattrall, born August 21, 1956 in London was a British and Canadian actress from Canada and the UK. She was best known as Samantha Jones on the HBO show Sex and the City. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for 2002 for the Best Supporting Female actress. Between 2008 and 2010, she reprised the character in the film Sex and the City and Sex and the City 2. In the 1980s her role was one of the leading in Police Academy Big Trouble Little China Mannequin as well as Porky's. Kim Cattrall will be remembered by her role as Samantha Jones in the HBO sitcom Sex & the City. Cattrall, a noted actress, has credited her role as Samantha Jones as a career-defining part. Her most well-known performance was from the film comedy drama La Dolce Vita. The film won an Oscar and the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival in 1960 and was also a commercial as well as critical success. Before she began her acting career it was her job to be a Swedish fashion model. She ultimately won an award at the Miss Sweden Contest. Her move to US in the early 1990s, where she began to appear in a variety of films, as minor characters. Her first credited role was in the movie Abbott and Costello Go to Mars in which she was a Venusian guard. Following that she was a newcomer on the set of Blood Alley she was awarded the Golden Globe in the most promising category.
